Art Rock Show – Motorpsycho – Motorpsycho (Week 16)

Motorpsycho is een Noorse rockband, die in oktober 1989 werd opgericht in Trondheim door Bent Sæther (bas/zang), Hans Magnus Ryan (gitaar) en Kjell Runar “Killer” Jenssen (drums). De muziek van Motorpsycho kan in het algemeen worden bestempeld als psychedelische rock, maar bevat ook elementen van heavy metal, jazz, rock, pop en vele andere muziekstijlen.

De Krenten uit de Pop: “Het is een album met een behoorlijk aantal redelijk compacte tracks, maar er zijn ook dit keer langere tracks, met het ruim 21 minuten durende Neotzar (The Second Coming) als uitschieter. In muzikaal opzicht doet het me meer dan eens denken aan de geniale trilogie van een paar jaar geleden, al vind ik het niveau op het nieuwe album net wat minder consistent. Psychedelic, heavy, prog and more innovating sounds spanning the late 60s and the early 70s – Dan’s pick of the week: Clivage (Mixtus Orbis), Flute & Voice (Imaginations Of Light), Osjan (Ksiega Deszczu), Magic Carpet (Magic Carpet), Vasant Rai (Autumn Song) & Ananda Shankar (Missing You – a Musical Discovery of India).

Clivage was een Frans etno/jazz-rockensemble dat tussen 1977 en 1978 twee albums uitbracht op Gratte-Ciel. Bandleider André Fertier liet de naam herleven voor nog een release op label-dochter F.L.V.M. in 1985.
